They are one of the hottest bands in the world right now it seems, and it is not the first time that we have heard a story about members of One Direction gambling. They reportedly spent a lot of money at a casino during a tour, and now they have also been at the slot machines – although they were not actually able to play, after an attendant turned them away from the games because they could not provide proof of age!
They were in Lanarkshire, Scotland when they stopped off at a motorway service station, and went to try out the slot machine games. While three members of the band went off to get snacks and the normal kind of service station fare, Liam Payne and Louis Tomlinson decided to stick together and have some fun with the machines. Despite the fact that they are both of a legal age – nineteen and twenty one years old, respectively – they were approached by twenty nine year old Ann Fuller and asked to present some ID.
They had already put some coins into the machine when it turned out that they could not produce their IDs to show her proof that they were over eighteen she asked them to leave – which they did without causing a scene, reportedly going off to buy some pick n mix sweets instead (which certainly cannot have helped with the whole looking underage thing). Fuller said, “I was just doing my job. I’d heard of One Direction but only found out it was them when a colleague later said, “Somebody’s thrown out the most popular boy-band in the world.””
The band were on their way to a show in Glasgow when they stopped off at the Abington Services on the M74, and the Games Area clearly proved to be too much of a temptation for the pair collectively known as LiLo to fans because of their tendency to go around as a bit of a double act. They have spoken about gambling in casinos before, but now we know that it is slots in particular that catch their interests!
