The owners of the Graton Resort and Casino in Rohnert Park are very close to opening their casino and providing new slots for California, as the very first machines were wheeled in to the facility recently with much approval from those who are waiting to hear the opening date.
“We still aiming for fall of this year, so we’re getting mighty close,” Joe Hasson, vice president and general manager of the Graton Resort and Casino. “We’ll have a real date; with just a little bit more construction behind us, we’ll be able call a real date.” The developers have stated that they would like to open sometime around the start of November, but the thousands of workers and business owners who will be involved in the complex are still waiting to hear when they will be able to start working at the site on the official opening.
The Federated Indians of Graton Rancheria are the tribe that own the casino, and who will be benefitting from the slot machine games revenue which will then eventually trickle through to the city and the county. Three thousand of the machines were brought in to the casino resort, including some which have been made by Bally Technologies. It will take several months to complete the process of receiving, installing, and testing all of the machines so that members of the public can at last play on them.
“The ceiling is beginning to take on a little bit of a finished look; there is carpet in progress; slot machines — first one arrives today; restaurants are being shaped out,” Hasson said. “So we’re at a point now where a lot of what’s being done now is no longer the infrastructure, it is the beautiful aspects of the casino. It will look like a casino resort in short order. We’ll always take care of the guests that make themselves well known to us by use of our guest loyalty card, but at the end of the day, the game takes currency.” He expects thousands of winners to be successful every single day.
