Celebrities flocked from far and wide to the JW Marriot San Antonio Hill Country Resort and Spa this weekend to take part in Eva Longoria’s casino night, an event which benefits her charity for those with special needs, Eva’s Heroes. The night was by all accounts a success, as press keenly snapped away and those who were invited came dressed in their finest for a night of fun and fundraising.
Of course there were many slot machine games involved, but guests were also able to participate in games of blackjack, roulette, craps, Let It Ride, 3 card poker, Chuck a Luck, and a great Texas Hold ‘Em tournament that has become the talk of the event year in and year out. Professional poker players went head to head with celebrities and those who have supported the charity, coming together to help those with special needs as well as to socialise and be seen. Cuisine was provided by highly acclaimed chefs and drinks were flowing freely, along with silent auctions and extra prizes that were given out and announced during the night. The sold out event had a ticket price of $200 per person, with $400 required to enter the poker tournament, and auction items included holidays in private villas, trips to see the Masters golf tournament in 2013, four Texas Longhorn cows, and a VIP shopping package.
Famous faces at the event were many. Eva Longoria herself was there all night long, as were poker star Phil Hellmuth, actor Mario Lopez, and professionals Dat Nguyen and Marie Ferdinand-Harris. Alongside them was a procession of the rich and important from the San Antonia area, as well as others that had come from further afield just to take part in the experience on the night. It was a roaring success with much money donated to the cause, and that will no doubt be a real godsend to the children and young adults who desperately need the help. Guests were also able to play video games on an Xbox console, which to all accounts was great fun for Lopez and Longoria!
