Facebook have announced the titles which have made it into their list of the top ten Games of the Year for 2013, with a few slot machine titles in there which are sure to provide a lot of fun and entertainment for those who are fans of the Wheel of Fortune game style and the addition of social elements. The list highlights the best in Facebook gaming across all genres, with a full list expanded to the top twenty three games in various categories. The list as a whole includes seven mid or hardcore games of the kind that require hours of play, five arcade games, and five casino and slot machine games, as well as six others.
The title of Game of the Year for 2013 went to Criminal Case by Pretty Simple Games, and while this is not a slot machine game or a casino game we do have to give them all due respect for putting together a solid game model which has proven to be very popular indeed. This is a hidden object game in which you have to solve crimes by searching for clues in crime scenes and then completing experiments or analysis back in the lab, as well as interviewing suspects in order to figure out who it was that committed the crime. The games which made it into the top lists were chosen based on factors such as user ratings, the way that they were implemented on Facebook, how much growth they had seen since launch, and the overall quality which they provided. Looking at these areas, there were lots of big winners, including some games which were not released during 2013 but still had a very large impact during the calendar year thanks to their enduring popularity and success. Amongst this category were games such as FarmVille 2 from Zynga and Candy Crush Saga from King, both of which have been big news this year.
Zynga also saw another entry on the list with their 2013-launched Hit It Rich Casino Slots, which will be something of a small comfort to the company, who decided to stick to online social gaming after a bid to move into real cash gaming proved to be far too problematic for them to pursue. This may well have disappointed stock holders in the somewhat struggling company, but their place on the list shows that they still have plenty to offer in the free to play market. The runners up in the best new games category were Bake Shop Drop by Broken Bulb Studios, Farm Heroes Saga by King, Heart of Vegas by Product Madness in partnership with Aristocrat, Hit It Rich, Jelly Splash by Wooga, Kitchen Scramble by Disney Interactive, Monster Legends by Social Point, The Smurfs & Co.: Spellbound by Ubisoft, Soldiers Inc. by Plarium, Solitaire Tales by Qublix, Thunder Run: War of Clans by SpinPunch Games, and Vikings Gone Wild by EveryDayiPlay. DoubleU Casino received Staff Favourite, and Slotomania also joined the 2013 Hall of Fame.
